Where I Am
Where I am
I am feather pillows and fluffy quilts
and a recently added weighted blanket
(Thanks, Ed!) to keep me warm
I am “The Little Prince” and “Watership Down”
and anything by Ursula LeGuin, Robert Powers,
Neil Gaiman, and Michel de Montaigne
I am baking sourdough, making one-pot dishes,
and relishing fall’s crunchy apples, ripe pears
and all the cranberries I can eat with wonder
I am words spilling out onto my laptop and
paint getting under my fingernails, and the scent
of fresh cut rosemary and flickering candlelight
brightening the dark corners
I am waiting for real hugs, in-person smiles, grins
and loud guffaws. I am waiting for the clinking of
glasses and the clicking of camera shutters and
the brightness of friends and family gathering
together
safely
