My New Normal

My new normal. Waking up in the morning with emotions already a jumbled mix-up. I’m getting used to this up and down, criss-cross swirl of feelings now with the world in disarray and my personal world filled with lots of unknowns due to the pandemic, the quarantine, and the health risks of family and friends. I am trying to find peace with the uncertainty and the unsettledness of it all. I am forever changed.

And now we welcome summer. Now it’s not so much about each day, but about the season we are experiencing. Summer means long days, lots of heat and sunshine, bird songs, and crickets to enjoy. Summer truly is a welcome diversion from the more serious concerns found in newspapers, magazines, and podcasts. Summer is a celebration of life. Summer is time for connections and sharing and support for each other.

Yet, this Summer is different. There are lessons to be learned during these days, changes to strive for, and lots to be thankful for even in these unprecedented times. But the days are long and the season of uncertainty continues. Be kind and be safe.
