Surround yourself with light
Do you see how extraordinary the light is during this time of the year? Just yesterday I was walking through the Gaslight District and the light was dazzling. The trees, somewhat bare of leaves, opened up to the sun. And I was right there walking in the brilliant beams. There were bursts of shadows darting into and out of the sunlight and the world seemed to go on forever.
And, as usual, I am cold this time of year and wearing too many layers of clothes making me feel like the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
And, as usual, evening comes much earlier than I want taking away the sunlight. But then the flickering of the gaslight lamps on the streets adds a shimmer to the windows of the charming restaurants and shops all over the neighborhood.
And then, unexpectedly, the nagging anxiety creeps out about the coming winter with the possibility of more isolation during this time of the pandemic.
But, wait. In these closing days of this long year, the sun is shining, and the light is bright. This is the here and now and with charming scenes, good food, great friends and moments to treasure.
Surround yourself with light.
